Sioux leads IMOCO4.E project: a breakthrough in intelligent control

IMOCO4.E is a major European project – consisting of universities, research institutes and companies from 13 European countries - focused on developing intelligent control systems for a variety of industries. The project has been coordinated by Sioux. Together, all parties worked on creating a reference architecture that includes building blocks for communication, sensing, vision, motion control, digital twins and AI applications.

What is IMOCO4.E?

IMOCO stands for ‘Intelligent Motion Control under Industry 4.0’. The aim of the project is to make the control systems of the future fast, precise, autonomous and (safely) accessible. All 45 parties involved in this project worked on developing building blocks suitable for a variety of applications in high-tech systems. Arend-Jan Beltman, project coordinator: ‘We are proud that, despite the diversity of pilots and partners, we achieved many tangible results. It was not a ‘theoretical’ exercise. The building blocks we developed can be used to accelerate our customers' creation processes now. We have also developed a digital twin that helps us improve reliability, predictability and machine availability.'

What's next?

Arend-Jan: 'We are now working on the next European project focusing on the semiconductor industry. We are convinced that European cooperation is the way forward.'
